Volvo Trucks Adds Ergonomic Workstations to VNL
The already versatile VNL and VNX models by Volvo Trucks just got a little bit better. Last month Volvo Trucks announced its newest addition to driver comfort, ergonomically advanced workstations. The option is just another example of the OEM powerhouse’s dedication to driver satisfaction and fleet productivity.
Volvo Trucks’ New Ergonomic Features
Each year, drivers spend thousands of hours on the road ensuring their pickups, deliveries and schedule are maintained. Their dedication is essential to economic sustainability and growth in the United States as over 70% of commercial freight activity is by heavy-duty trucks. By providing a flexible living environment for thousands of drivers who make their homes on the road, Volvo Trucks is showing their dedication to improvements for driver productivity, comfort and overall convenience.
The ergonomic workstation transforms from a sitting area with a table for relaxing, eating and catching up on work to a base for seating cushions that unfold into a bed. Additional enhancements include an angled table for easy seating; a 103-degree cushion seat angle to improve seating comfort; and connected cushions that can be easily secured to allow for adequate rest.
Volvo Trucks’ ergonomic station boasts multiple configuration possibilities. Solo drivers may prefer to leave the table set-up and sleep in the top bunk, while team drivers may choose to collapse the table for access to both bunk beds. The workstation also features space for storage inside the bottom bunk bases. “The ability to create an exceptional all-in-one living space and working environment is essential to attracting and keeping drivers,” said Allison Athey, product marketing manager at Volvo Trucks North America.
Volvo VNL and VNX Models
The Volvo VNL 740 and 760 are all about efficiency. Aerodynamics and turbo compounding helps to save up to 7.5% on fuel. The VNL models are suited for long hauls with weight-conscious specialty applications, especially with the additional ergonomic workspace options. Both models feature a standard 70” sleeper cab with a reclining bunk and telescopic ladder built to ensure driver comfort and relaxation in off periods. While driving the Volvo VNL showcases a high-end infotainment system and the most ergonomic seats on the road as well as I-Shift transmission, adaptive loading, and I-See predictive cruise control.
The VNX 740 is built for durability. The VNX features wide tires and durable framerails constructed of 760 MPA heat-treated alloy steel with a yield strength of 120,000 psi. It also has fifth wheels with a load capacity of 55,000 lbs.+ and pull capacity of 150,000 lbs.+. With the addition of the ergonomic workspaces, the VNX is the perfect meld between performance and driver comfort.
Previously successful on the VNL 670 model, the enhanced workstation for the VNL 760, 740 and VNX 740 models is now available.
