Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks Honor Military for Memorial Day
Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks honored military heroes, past and present, on Memorial Day with custom-designed themed wraps on the Volvo VNL 760 and Mack Anthem. The designs were a part of Memorial Day observations and showcased the companies’ continued support of military personnel.
Mack Trucks’ Mack Anthem Design
The Mack Anthem model featured a custom-designed, military-themed wrap. As the “official hauler of NASCAR,” Mack Trucks provided the custom-designed Anthem, as well as 9 other trucks, to NASCAR Salutes Refreshed by Coca-Cola. The annual NASCAR event expresses gratitude and respect for the men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces.
Mack Trucks and NASCAR fans had the ability to choose the final wrap design for the Memorial Day Mack Anthem. Members of NASCAR Creative Design created four options, which were posted on social media, encouraging fans to choose their favorite. The winning design featured all five branches of the military and earned nearly 40 percent of the overall vote.
Mack Trucks has a long-standing connection to the U.S. Armed Forces spanning more than 100 years. In fact, the relationship between Mack Trucks and the military is the original source of its Bulldog nickname. Mack Trucks continues to provide military vehicles through its Mack Defense subsidiary.
Volvo Trucks’ Volvo VNL 760 Design
Volvo Trucks also designed a wrap for Memorial Day. The company participates annually in an event called “Run for the Wall” Ride for Freedom in Washington, D.C. over Memorial Day weekend. The event, founded by two Vietnam veterans, began in 1989. It is a 10-day coast-to-coast motorcycle ride. The ride begins in Ontario, California, and ends at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. More than 350,000 motorcyclists participate in the event annually. During Ride for Freedom, the custom-designed Volvo VNL 760 from the New River Valley assembly plant in Dublin, Virginia led a motorcade past 900,000 bystanders from the plant.
This year’s Volvo VNL 760 long-haul tractor featured custom-designed graphics that honor America, the United States military and those who have served. The design featured the slogan, “All veterans need a welcome home, and a place to reflect. Until they have a wall of their own, it’s only right to share ours.”
