Geotab ELD Integration Announced for Volvo Trucks & Mack Trucks
Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks announced that all new trucks will now offer a factory-installed Geotab ELD (electronic logging device) and that the new integrated platform can be retrofitted into heavy-duty trucks model-year 2015 and newer. The announcement was made at the American Trucking Association (ATA) Management Conference and Exhibition in San Diego. This is just the latest example of the continuous updates from these two OEMs that are benefiting drivers and the commercial trucking industry as a whole.
Geotab ELD and Geotab Drive Deliver Accuracy & Compliance
The major benefit of this partnership with world-leading telematics company Geotab is the ability to deliver accurate logs that remain compliant with the federal ELD mandate and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
Geotab ELDs monitor and record Hours of Service (HOS) compliance information, including Records of Duty Status (RODS) and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR). And the cloud-based system used by Geotab Drive, the mobile application that accompanies the factory-fit devices, ensures more reliable data capture and delivery as well as full compatibility with Android and iOS platforms.
Cloud-Based Geotab ELD System Increases Reliability for Volvo & Mack Truck Fleets
Drivers using the cloud-based Geotab Drive mobile app can choose to enter duty status logs manually, and those logs will be consolidated into an accurate record of duty status. Fleet managers can then monitor fleet compliance with real-time data insights through a user-friendly interface in the MyGeotab portal. They will be able to view detailed reports on driver logs, violation reports, running reports on the status of the fleet and more.
And because there is no pairing process via Bluetooth, WiFi or an ethernet connection (unlike with similar products from other OEMs), recorded data will never be lost, and wireless interference can’t impact reporting. The Geotab ELD continues to record data whether or not the mobile unit is connected, making it another seamless, efficiency-boosting semi-truck solution from Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks.
