Announcing the New Volvo Truck: The Next Evolution of the Volvo VHD

That’s when Volvo announced its most noteworthy upgrade to the Volvo VHD in decades.
The new and improved model in Volvo’s VHD Series builds on the established durability, versatility and productivity of its past world-class vocational offerings. Performance-wise, this is a line of trucks that is meant to make hard work easy, and it looks every bit as capable as it is. As a Volvo dealer, we have to say we’re excited for this one.
Updated Exterior
The new model has been given a modern upgrade, echoing similar updates across the Volvo Trucks family. Updates include a new grille design, new LED high/low beam headlights, a fully sealed headlamp component for increased visibility and the option for a de-icing feature that will come in handy in winter weather and colder climates.
Improved Interior & Safety Features
State-of-the-art ergonomic features mean more comfort, efficiency and confidence for drivers. Moving the ignition to the dash’s lower left-hand side has put it in a more convenient location, while steering wheel buttons have become more touch friendly and intuitive.
In terms of advanced safety measures, Volvo Dynamic Steering (VDS) and the next generation of Volvo Active Driver Assist (VADA) are groundbreaking for the vocational industry. The former provides a safer experience and increases driver comfort by adding torque to prevent steering strain and vibrations in poor road conditions. The newest evolution of VADA comes with integrated radar/camera capabilities, automatic emergency braking, highway departure warnings, adaptive cruise control and more
The most recent technological developments in connectivity solutions and real-time data insights have also been incorporated into the new VHD model, including remote programming and remote diagnostics.
Rugged Performance
Class-leading capability and versatility have always defined the Volvo VHD Series, and the new model is no different. Applying continuous pressure to the wheels, the Volvo T-Ride suspension delivers reliable traction to create the best ride under the most demanding conditions. It also features a new ride stiffness option for mixers and trucks with wing plows.
Crawler gears have also been added, allowing the truck to start on steep grades, deliver low-speed control and reach maximum speeds on the highway with faster rear axle ratios.
On the robust VHD bumper, you’ll find a heavy-duty 45mm tow pin rated for 80,000 pounds. And in direct response to customer feedback about increasing uptime and peace of mind, the OEM ensured that the tow pin would allow for quick pull-outs from tricky situations.
