Mack Trucks Donates Mack Anthem to American Trucking Association for Veteran Recruitment
Mack Trucks announced that it will donate one of its Mack Anthem 70-inch Stand Up Sleeper models to the American Trucking Association (ATA). The goal of the donation is to assist in the recruitment and hiring of military veterans. The themed Mack Anthem will travel across the country to encourage veterans to pursue a career in the trucking industry after they have served.
The donated Mack Anthem will be uniquely wrapped with camouflage to add to the bold look and messaging of the tour. It will travel with the ATA as they participate in hiring events at schools, career fairs and military bases. The truck will also make stops at the Marine Corp. Museum in Quantico, VA and the new Army Museum in Ft. Belvoir, VA.
The truck will be driven by professional drivers of the ATA Share the Road program. These drivers present live safety exhibitions that demonstrate how to drive safely alongside heavy-duty and semi-trucks.

ATA President and CEO Chris Spear expressed his excitement over the new Mack Anthem and how it will help the demonstrate the thousands of jobs available to military veterans in the industry. “As a military dad, I think this partnership is a great example of how industries can showcase themselves to talented individuals with demonstrated service to our nation and, I thank Mack Trucks for giving us the opportunity to expand our efforts on this issue,” Spear said.
The Mack Anthem delivers outstanding performance with a focus on driver comfort. The ATA’s model features a Mack MP 8HE-415SE engine with 415 horsepower and 1,660 lb.-ft. of torque. It also has a Mack mDRIVE automated manual transmission. The mDRIVE is standard on all Mack Anthem models and eliminate traditional shifting which in turn allows drivers to remain focused on driving, rather than shifting gears.
The heavy-duty truck also showcases Mack Trucks focus on driver comfort. The interior boasts full stand-up height from the cab into the living environment. An ergonomic and functioning driving environment also provides all-day comfort with clear gauges, easy-to-reach controls and an industry first flat-bottomed steering wheel for easier ingress and egress.
